What Is A Geothermal Home Heating System

By Jacque Ryker

Geothermal home heating system means that the temperature is transferred to your house from the ground and it is also known as the round source heat pumps.

The system that you should think first is those that are small one and not that complicated system. A small room in your house only needs a portable home heater where you can purchase it anytime. If the room is not that big, this heating system can provide an ample heat. But these portable heating system has its own disadvantage and this is when the system can heat one room at a time. If there are many rooms in your house and you wanted it to have heating system then you can get a multiple units. It is a good choice since your household will be warmed up.

To collect the earth's natural heat during a winter season, you need to use a pipe or a loop where you have to install it under the ground or can be submerged into a lake or pond. The fluid that is being circulated through the pipes that carry water is the means of heat that is released in the system. The compressor and the heat exchanger are responsible for the release of the heat inside your house in a much higher temperature. The heat now will be distributed to any rooms through the use of of a duct work.

During summer, this process is reversed. The underground loop is the one responsible for drawing the excess heat in your house and therefore it will be use as a heat sink. The heating system will also cools your house through pulling the heat from the inferior and not through blowing a cold air.

Vertical and horizontal are the two forms of the geothermal heating pump. The pipes will go to a depth of about 650 feet in vertical system and this will also avoid disruptions because it will minimize the amount of land surface.

Only a limited space is needed for a vertical coils and this is one of the reason why the disruptions are prevented.

The loop can be seen as closed, open, vertical or horizontal.

Open loop system uses two wells. The water that is drawn passes through the heat exchanger and then it will be release into the second well. For an effective heat exchange, it would normally takes two or three gallons per minute.

A water or an antifreeze solution can be used in a closed loop system so that the heat will be distributed evenly.

For the closed loop geothermal heat installation, it includes burying pipes in trenches. A U-tube is used to install a closed loop vertical system wherein it has been drilled in a 100 to 400 feet.

There are other types of a closed loop and this is known to be a pond closed loop. This closed loop can also be placed on the bottom of the pond or stream. Same as a closed loop ground system, the fluid is also pumped in a very similar process. The geothermal heat system's economics can help us save because of its cheaper price.

A geothermal home heating system is very important because:

Energy source are free and can be renewed Works not against the nature Reducing Emissions for CO2 Maintenance gets less expensive Heating systems gets good value of Geothermal property New heating system models are compatible with it Reduce fuel cost up to 70% Not hard to use
